Disney+ Docuseries “Parenting Without Borders” on the Way from Jessica Alba and Kathryn O’Kane

Alba in "L.A.'s Finest"

Jessica Alba is set to explore approaches to parenting from around the world. The “L.A.’s Finest” actress will star in and exec produce Disney+ documentary series “Parenting Without Borders.” Deadline broke the news.

Described as “Anthony Bordain: Parts Unknown” for parenting, the travel show will follow Alba as she “immerses herself with families around the world, exploring the parenting beliefs and practices shaping families today.”

Kathryn O’Kane (“Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat”) will direct and serve as showrunner on the project, which is based on Christine Gross-Loh’s 2013 book “Parenting Without Borders: Surprising Lessons Parents Around the World Can Teach Us.” In it, she examines how parents from across the globe “foster resilience, creativity, independence, and academic excellence in their children” and how culture shapes parenting practices.

Alba stars alongside Gabrielle Union in “L.A.’s Finest,” an offshoot of the “Bad Boys” franchise that’s been renewed for a second season by Spectrum. She’s the co-founder of The Honest Company, known for offering natural baby products and supplies.

“I’m getting back to acting because it’s my first love and part of my identity. Hollywood is different now from when I semi-retired ten years ago,” Alba has said. “There’s a new awareness of how important it is for women to be paid well and represented in front of and behind the camera. The #MeToo movement, for all the heartache and trauma it has churned up, enlightened people. For ‘L.A.’s Finest,’ I didn’t even think about what a man would be paid. I said, ‘This is what I’m worth.’ Gab and I know our value, and we’re lucky to be comfortable enough that we could have walked away if we’d had to.”

“Sin City” and “Dark Angel” are among her other acting credits.
