Eliza Hooper to Make Feature Directorial Debut with Sci-Fi “Wellwood”

Hooper: Funny or Die

Frequent Funny or Die contributor Eliza Hooper is making her feature directorial debut. The UCB writer is helming “Wellwood,” a sci-fi indie that “centers on a terminally ill Laura and her husband Nick, who makes an extraterrestrial discovery that he decides will cure his wife,” Deadline reports.

Oscar-nominated “Whale Rider” star Keisha Castle-Hughes has signed on to play a deputy in the pic. The actress portrayed Obara Sand in “Game of Thrones” and recently appeared in “Manhunt: Unabomber” and “Thank You For Your Service.”

Currently in production in New Orleans, “Wellwood” hails from studioADI and is penned by Reid Collums, who is also co-starring.

You can check out some of Hooper’s work on her Vimeo page and on Funny or Die.
