Elizabeth Banks and Max Handelman’s Brownstone Productions is carrying quite the slate lately — but that isn’t stopping the duo from taking on even more projects. Deadline reports that the production company has now signed on with “The Big C” creator Darlene Hunt to exec produce an ensemble comedy for Fox and Warner Bros. Television.
Entitled “Patty’s Auto,” the multi-camera series is inspired by Patrice Banks’ Girls Auto Clinic, an all-female auto repair shop in Pennsylvania. It centers on the ins and outs these women face on the job. “Patty’s Auto” will be written by Hunt, with Banks serving as consulting producer.
Hunt starred in “I Heart Huckabees” and “Idiocracy.” She created and produced Showtime’s “The Big C,” starring Laura Linney, and most recently served as exec producer on Amazon’s “Good Girls Revolt” and ABC’s “Roseanne” revival.
Banks’ directorial credits include “Pitch Perfect 2” and the upcoming reboot of “Charlie’s Angels.” She stars alongside Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott (“The 33”), and Ella Balinska (“Midsomer Murders”) in the latter. She is currently exec producing a female-led NBC basketball drama with LeBron James, Wendy Calhoun’s mother-daughter FBI drama, and “Shrill,” Hulu’s upcoming adaptation of Lindy West’s memoir starring “SNL’s” Aidy Bryant.
Additionally, Banks is set to produce and star in “When Prince Made a Chambermaid His Queen for a Day.” Paramount Player’s adaptation is inspired by Wyoming hotel cleaner Lisa Barber, winner of the true 1986 Win a Date With Prince contest.
Banks voices Wyldstyle in “The Lego Movie 2: The Second Part,” in theaters February 2019.
