The Hollywood Reporter revealed yesterday that Banks will make her directorial debut with Pitch Perfect 2. The Hunger Games co-star produced the college a capella comedy, which made, um, bank by grossing $115 million worldwide on a $17 million budget (and another $135 in ancillary markets like DVD and VOD sales). Banks also had a minor role in Pitch Perfect.
Pitch Perfect’s two aca-buddies, Anna Kendrick and Rebel Wilson, are likely to return for the sequel, as is screenwriter Kay Cannon, who penned the first film’s script.
