Here’s a story you haven’t heard before: A free spirit rescues a baby from her negligent mother, leading everyone to think she’s kidnapped the infant. She passes the baby off as her own around her ex-boyfriend’s mother, then decides to return the infant to her biological mother, who, instead of calling the cops, decides to befriend the other two women.
Such is the plot of “Tallulah,” a dramedy that will star Ellen Page and Allison Janney and begin shooting in June. Given the high-stakes hijinks involved, the film sounds like a tonal minefield — hopefully ably handled by the two veteran actresses.
“We believe in emotionally charged stories with universal themes,” said producer Russell Levine. “Ellen Page and Allison Janney will give this film the nuanced comedic and dramatic strength it needs, and we’re thrilled to move this project forward.”
