Emily Blunt may be following up her turn as a magical umbrella-wielding nanny in “Mary Poppins Returns” with a drama based on a true story. She’s in talks to topline Annapurna Pictures’ adaptation of “Not Fade Away,” Deadline reports.
Based on Rebecca Alexander’s 2015 memoir “Not Fade Away: A Memoir of Senses Lost and Found by Rebecca Alexander,” the feature tells the story of a woman born “with a rare genetic mutation that caused her to lose her sight and hearing over time,” though she “beat the odds and expectations of her prognosis.” Playwright Lindsey Ferrentino is penning the script. No word on a director yet.
Blunt’s upcoming projects include a sequel to box office smash “A Quiet Place” and “Jungle Cruise,” a live-action Disney film based on the attraction of the same name.
A six-time Golden Globe nominee, Blunt has been recognized for her roles in “Mary Poppins,” “Into the Woods,” “Salmon Fishing in the Yemen,” “The Young Victoria,” “The Devil Wears Prada,” and “Gideon’s Daughter.” She won Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Miniseries, or Motion Picture Made for Television for the latter, a BBC TV Movie.
Blunt was honored with a Creative Impact in Acting Award at Palm Springs Film Festival earlier this year.
