Emily Spivey Signs Deal with 20th Century Fox TV

nullEmily Spivey has signed a two year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television.

Spivey recently left the NBC sitcom, Up All Night, which she created. The ongoing mess, of Up All Night continues as star Christina Applegate left and Will Arnett signed on for a CBS pilot.

Her new deal with Fox includes developing new projects and co-executive producing a new animated show, Murder Police. This brings Spivey back to some of her career roots which include working on Fox’s King of the Hill, MadTV and also spending a decade at Saturday Night Live.

20th Century chairman Gary Newman commented on the deal.

Emily is one of those unique, funny female voices that we have had our eyes on for some time—we’ve been big fans ever since she worked for us on King Of The Hill at the very start of her career. We believe she has a hit in her, and we want to be the studio which helps her achieve it.

With the seeming dissolution of Up All Night and the recent cancellation of other women-created sitcoms Don’t Trust the B in Apartment 23 and Ben and Kate, it’s exciting that Spivey will be at a place that appreciates comedic female voices.
