Emmy Winners

Thought that Jane Lynch did great. She’s so funny.

Other exciting moments:

When Melissa McCarthy won best actress in a comedy — the woman has had a great year and it is so spectacular to see a fat girl succeed in a town where women are shamed for their size. Ditto for Margo Martindale. A 60-year-old woman getting her first big Hollywood recognition. She is always amazing in everything she does.

But while it is great to see the awesome Kate Winslet get up and accept her Emmy, the telecast showed who runs Hollywood, and you know it is the dudes.

How many women won significant awards besides acting? No woman got up on that stage on her own to accept an award. There were women who won as part of groups of writers, but no woman won as a individual writer or director.

And on the top drama of the year, one that is written about as being full of women writers, Mad Men- there are two female writers — Maria Jacquemetton and Dahvi Waller — two out of eight. And on the top comedy Modern Family, there is one female writer — Ilana Wernick — out of eleven. At least that show doesn’t pretend to have any women as part of it.
