A lonely hairstylist finds a terrifying way to pass the time in “The Stylist,” Jill Gevargizian’s feature directorial debut. In our exclusive clip of the psychological thriller, Claire (Najarra Townsend) tells her client, Sarah (Jennifer Seward), about why she was drawn to her profession. “You get to go in other people’s lives, hear stories,” she explains. “You give life advice. It’s almost like having a family.”
Sarah is cheating on her partner, and despite having plenty of family, friends, and a therapist to confide in, she decides to spill the beans to Claire. “You’re a total stranger,” she says. “You’re outside my actual real life. With you I trust that it doesn’t matter. I trust that I’ll never see you again and my secret just vanishes with you.”
But Claire is hardly a harmless stranger. When she’s she’s not working at the salon, Claire is busy collecting scalps. She’s a hairstylist by day and a serial killer at night.
Claire’s “existence is thrown into turmoil when her regular client, Olivia (Brea Grant, ‘After Midnight,’ director of ’12 Hour Shift’), asks her to style her hair for her wedding day. Increasingly fixated on Olivia’s seemingly flawless life, Claire vows to lock up her scalp collection and change her ways for good – only to discover that repressing your deadly desires is easier said than done,” the film’s official synopsis hints.
“The Stylist” premiered at the 2020 Fantastic Film Festival and begins streaming exclusively on ARROW March 1 in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K.
