Exclusive: Mad Men — Set Me Free

In this remix musical, the women of Mad Men get together to sing the 1966 Diana Ross hit, Keep Me Hanging On. A metaphor for both the rigid gender roles of the time and the much anticipated season of Mad Men, the mash up is an example of the ongoing connection between remix culture and new media driving TV engagement. By isolating key moments in the series where women took a stand and spoke up for themselves despite personal and social pressures, Mad Men: Keep Me Hanging On is an empowering look at the lives of these female characters as they negotiate their next steps in their lives and of course, their jobs.

Mad Men: Set Me Free from popculturepirate on Vimeo.

A collaboration between Marc Falletti (@marcfaletti) and Elisa Kreisinger (PopCulturePirate), the remix utilizes footage from seasons 1–4 of Mad Men and is a Fair Use of copyright material.
