EXCLUSIVE: ShortsHD Celebrates Women Filmmakers with ‘100 Films By Her’ Month

ShortsHD, a high-definition cable network dedicated to short movies, will celebrate women directors this month with a 100 Films By Her special. Programming will consist of works from established and emerging filmmakers, as well as profiles of renowned women behind the scenes, including a “Before They Were Famous” rundown of Jane Campion’s career.

Campion’s Peel: An Exercise in Discipline and the Cannes-winning Passionless Moments will be among the featured shorts. Enjoying spotlight presentations will be Suzi Yoonessi’s No Shoulder and Dear Lemon Lima (both of which star Oscar-winning actress Melissa Leo), Lisa Robertson’s Commerce, and Nicky Lianos’s Monsters & Rabbits and Dead Happy.

Also highlighted will be the ten films named the “Best in Fest” at Lunafest 2014.

“As an antidote to the gross under-representation of women in the entertainment industry (especially in feature films), ShortsHD provides female directors with a showcase for their skills and talent and an opportunity to reach audiences who love cinematic stories of any size,” said director Susan Seidlman. “ShortsHD is truly dedicated to women filmmakers and created a month of inspiring and remarkable programming devoted to the top female filmmakers and the next generation of talent.”
