Exclusive: WhoHaha Announces Spring Creator Lab Participants

Participant Moni Oyedepo. She created podcast "You’ve Got Me F@!*ed Up!"

WhoHaha, the Elizabeth Banks-co-founded creative community and digital content studio elevating women in comedy, has named the participants of its Spring Creator Lab. Women and Hollywood has exclusively learned that 22 projects — 11 videos and 11 podcasts — from 26 creators have been selected from more than 200 submissions.

The #WhoHahaLab runs February through April at WhoHaha HQ in Los Angeles. Over those three months, creators will take part in consultations, pre-production, shooting or recording, post-production, marketing seminars, and networking events. By the end of the program, video creators will finish a short video and a platform-specific social showcase, while podcast creators will put together a podcast pilot and learn about creating and distributing a successful podcast.

Participants in the #WhoHahaLab Video/Social Program include Becca Greenberg, Shae Lee Shackleford, and Lara Hillier. Greenberg’s “I Called Out My Rapist and Now I’m Rich and Famous!” is an “Access Hollywood” spoof about a woman whose star rises after she names her rapist. Shackleford’s “Bond, Jane Bond” is a gender-flipped parody of 007. From Hillier, “Crystal Canyons” centers on vampires who have become newly woke thanks to #MeToo.

Samantha Kellie, Tianna Jones, and Savannah Rodgers are among the Podcast Program creators. Kellie and Jones’ “Highly Political” sees the hosts talking politics and current events while smoking weed. With the interview-style “Give Me a Gone Girl Blu Ray Podcast,” Rodgers will try to fulfill one goal: obtain enough “Gone Girl” Blu Rays to be achieve the Guinness World Record for “Most Number of Gone Girl Blu Rays Owned By a Single Person.”
