Sara Steele is on board for “The Good Wife” spinoff on CBS All Access, Deadline reports.
As Women and Hollywood previously reported, the spinoff will focus on the characters of Diane Lockhart (Christine Baranski) and Lucca Quinn (Cush Jumbo). The new series will pick up exactly a year after the events in “The Good Wife” finale, which left Alicia (Julianna Margulies) severing her friendship with Diane.
As Deadline writes, Steele will “reprise her role as Eli Gold’s (Alan Cumming) smart and outspoken daughter Marissa Gold. In the spinoff, she is a brilliant but scattered millennial who begins as Diane Lockhart’s secretary, but finds she has a knack for investigating. The character will continue the original series’ tradition of strong and sassy female investigators, following in the footsteps of Kalinda and Robyn.”
“We’re absolutely thrilled that Sarah will be joining the show,” said co-creators and executive producers Robert and Michelle King. “She’s a magnificent comedian with the dramatic skill to keep every scene real.”
Steele is currently appearing in the hit Broadway play “The Humans,” which will run until January.
The new series will premiere on CBS in February before moving exclusively to CBS All Access.
