‘Fancy Nancy’ Adaptation Lands at Disney Channel

The children’s book series “Fancy Nancy” will be turned into a TV movie and a weekly series for the Disney Channel.

Written by Jane O’Connor and illustrated by Robin Preiss Glasser, “Fancy Nancy” centers on a young girl with an extravagant wardrobe and vocabulary. The series has sold more than 28 million copies so far. The Disney Channel adaptation will yield more books and an amplified merchandising line.

News of the small-screen adaptation comes after stalled efforts at translating “Fancy Nancy” for theaters.
