Felicia D. Henderson is taking to ABC to give PANKs (Professional Auntie No Kids) their due. Deadline reports the network has given the Henderson-written “PANK” a script commitment with penalty. The project hails from producer Darryl Taja (“The Perfect Guy”) and 20th Century Fox TV.
The one-hour drama centers on 33-year-old Faith Jones, who is “living and lovin’ her life as a PANK.” Faith has “a new guy, a new promotion, a new house, a fast car, and plenty of disposable income,” the source details. “It’s kinda perfect — until the unexpected happens and circumstances force her to care for her brother’s three children. How will this childless-by-choice, badass PANK tackle raising three kids, while also maintaining the life she worked so hard to create?”
Henderson will also serve as EP. “PANK” is part of the overall deal she signed with 20th Century Fox TV earlier this year. As part of the agreement, she joined “Empire” as a consulting producer.
Henderson has penned several episodes of BET’s college-set drama “The Quad,” which she co-created. Her other writing and producing credits include “The Punisher,” “Underground,” “Gossip Girl,” “Everybody Hates Chris,” and “Soul Food.” She directed four episodes of the latter.
