The BFI London Film Festival gathered a seriously formidable crowd earlier today. Many of the female filmmakers screening works at LFF posed alongside female journalists, activists, jurors, and other industry leaders for a photograph. “In total over 80 women joined together in celebration,” a press release announced.
“I’m so proud to celebrate more female filmmakers at LFF 2018 than ever before, and the talented women working at the heart of London’s film industry,” said Tricia Tuttle , Artistic Director of the BFI London Film Festival.
“A Private War” star Rosamund Pike, “Freedom Fields” director Naziha Arebi, and Women and Hollywood Founder and Publisher Melissa Silverstein were among the women who assembled. Check out a complete list of participants below.
LFF kicked off on October 10 with the international premiere of Viola Davis-led caper “Widows.” Women-directed and co-directed films account for 50 percent of films screening in Competition this year.
