“Fleabag,” “GLOW,” “When They See Us,” and More Receive ReFrame’s TV Stamp

Twenty-one television series from the 2018-2019 season have received the ReFrame Stamp — “Fleabag” and “When They See Us” among them. As Variety reports, 10 of those shows, including “GLOW” and “Grey’s Anatomy” have “earned the stamp year-over-year.”

Created to recognize projects with gender-balanced casts and crews, the ReFrame Stamp is awarded to productions that employed women in at least four of the following roles: writing, directing, showrunning, producing, lead acting roles, season regular acting roles, department heads, and crew members. ReFrame also analyzes the top 100 most popular scripted shows using IMDbPro data to determine its stamp recipients.

Per the source, ReFrame is retooling its methodology and confirmed it is extending its partnership with IMDBPro through 2022. For its inaugural class of TV Stamp recipients, ReFrame received submissions from producers, studios, and networks via an open call. Going forward, ReFrame and IMDbPro will use “a baseline and closed data set on which to more accurately compare yearly results.”

Because of this new metric, 12 shows from the 2017-2018 season have retroactively received stamps. These titles include “The Americans” and “Jessica Jones.”

“Working with IMDbPro’s industry-leading data, we are able to measure content that meets or exceeds stamp criteria in support of diverse, impactful stories from artists around the world,” said ReFrame co-founders Keri Putnam and Cathy Schulman. “We are thrilled to renew our partnership with IMDbPro through 2022 to celebrate gender-balanced films and television shows with the ReFrame Stamp.”

Series airing or streaming between June 1, 2019 and May 31, 2020 are eligible for ReFrame’s 2020 TV Stamp.

Last week, ReFrame announced a partnership with Delta Airlines. The two organizations are working on in-flight movie and TV channels that will air projects that have received the ReFrame Stamp. The channels are set to launch in February.

The 2019 TV Stamp recipients, and the new 2018 honorees, are below. Projects that have earned year-over-year stamps are marked with an asterisk (*). Lists adapted from Variety.
