Two single mothers who dream of fighting crime end up policing neighborhood code violations instead. “The Enforcers” certainly doesn’t sound like your average buddy cop show — and we have writers Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer to thank for that.
The pair — who have previously worked together on the likes of “The New Adventures of Old Christine,” “Joey” and “Friends” — will write and executive produce the new single-camera comedy. Gail Mancuso (“Modern Family,” “Fresh Off the Boat”) is set to direct.
“The Enforcers” is part of a 2016–17 TV lineup which sees Fox make a further push toward more diverse programming. The network has a pilot for a sitcom centered on an interracial family in the works, news of which follows an earlier announcement of a girl-group music drama starring Queen Latifah (as well as a “24” reboot with Corey Hawkins of “Straight Outta Compton” fame in the lead).
An untitled workplace sitcom from The League creator Laurel Steinel is also in contention at the network, Variety reports.
