TV writer and producer Francisca X. Hu has inked an overall deal with UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group. Deadline broke the news.
A graduate of the 2022 WGA Showrunner Training Program, Hu began her career with a staffing job on Fox’s “Sleepy Hollow,” was aco-producer on The CW’s “Dynasty,” and has since served in consulting producer and co-exec producer roles on “The Walking Dead” anthology spinoff “Tales of the Walking Dead” — set to premiere this summer — and HBO Max’s “Warrior” respectively. She most recently produced Melissa London Hilfers’s country music drama series “Monarch,” set for release in the fall.
“It’s an absolute dream to be embarking on this journey with the dynamic studio behind so many standout and memorable series, and I am grateful to UCP’s team of exciting tastemakers for bringing me into the fold,” she said of the new deal. “I’m truly looking forward to diving in and telling propulsive, character-rich stories from unique perspectives and building interesting worlds in my new creative home!”
UCP President Beatrice Springborn added, “Francisca is a writer who transcends genre and elevates every project she works on. We are thrilled to collaborate and partner with her as she’s the best of the best.”
