Gal Gadot is set to play another heroine in a blockbuster pic. Deadline reports that “Wonder Woman” actress is set to topline “Heart of Stone,” a Skydance Media title that’s aiming “to put a female spin on action franchises like ‘Mission: Impossible’ and 007.”
The film, penned by Oscar-nominated “Hidden Figures” screenwriter Allison Schroeder and “The Old Guard” scribe Greg Rucka, may be “a theatrical or streaming bow.” Tom Harper (“Wild Rose”) is in talks to direct.
Gadot, who shot to international superstardom with Patty Jenkins’ “Wonder Woman,” signed on to star in “Heart of Stone” in “an eight-figure deal that puts her at the upper levels of the actress salary scale,” Deadline notes.
“Wonder Woman” grossed over $821 million worldwide. The origin story took in more than $412 million in the U.S., making it the 31st highest-grossing film of all-time stateside. Gadot will be seen next in its long anticipated sequel, “Wonder Woman 1984,” also directed by Jenkins. The pic, co-starring Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva/Cheetah, hits select theaters and HBO Max December 25. She’ll re-team with Jenkins for “Cleopatra,” a historical drama based on the queen of Egypt written by Laeta Kalogridis (“Shutter Island”).
Gadot’s other credits include “Justice League” and the “Fast & Furious” franchise.
