Gina Rodriguez is set to star in and exec produce a new Amazon mystery thriller series, “Last Known Position,” which will be an adaptation of the QCode scripted podcast of the same name. Deadline broke the news.
“‘Last Known Position’ charts the fallout of a brand new state-of-the-art American commercial jetliner vanishing on its maiden voyage over the Pacific,” details the source. “The ensuing air crash investigation discovers evidence of a creature of the deep that may have been responsible.”
There’s no word yet on whether the TV adaptation will bring back any of the podcast’s original cast members besides Rodriguez.
The project adds to the “Jane the Virgin” breakout’s busy slate, which also includes “September 17th,” the recently wrapped feature directorial debut of her “Someone Great” co-star Brittany Snow. Courtney Eaton (“Yellowjackets”) leads the pic about a woman who has recently been released from a stay in rehab due to her struggles with body image and food issues. Rodriguez also counts a TV adaptation of “Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown” among her upcoming projects.
The actress’ other credits include Miranda July’s 2020 comedy “Kajillionaire” and the critically acclaimed 2018 sci-fi “Annihilation.”
