Tracy Oliver is stepping behind the camera. The breakout screenwriter of “Girls Trip” is set to make her directorial debut with an adaptation of Danielle Vega’s 2015 YA novel “Survive the Night.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. snagged the package, which sees Oliver writing the script for the horror thriller.

Described as “Stephen King meets ‘Pretty Little Liars,’” the story takes place on Halloween and follows a group of four female college students who become trapped inside an underground warehouse musical festival. “They must fight for their lives against a mysterious attacker who hunts them down throughout the night,” THR summarizes.

Music is said to play a large part in the project.

Oliver’s most recent offering, “Girls Trip,” also centers on a group of female friends. The hit comedy follows long-time pals who travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. “Girls Trip” grossed over $136 million on a budget of $19 million.

“Barbershop: The Next Cut,” “Survivor’s Remorse,” and “The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl” are among Oliver’s other writing credits. She co-starred in the latter.

“I’ve been doing theater and music, and singing and dancing, and literally everything in the arts since I was a child. I thought I was going to be an actor and then at Stanford I was kind of frustrated with the lack of opportunities I was getting as a performer,” Oliver has said. “That’s when I realized that if I was going to change that I’d need to learn how to write, direct, and produce.”

Oliver recently signed on to pen a half-hour series based on “The First Wives Club,” the 1996 film starring Goldie Hawn, Bette Midler, and Diane Keaton.
