Halle Berry hasn’t been in a comedy in just about forever, so it’s interesting that the Oscar-winning actress has been pitching an action-comedy as a star vehicle for herself.
That project, “Mother,” has just been picked up by Universal. Berry and her producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas have also just wrapped production on the thriller “Kidnap,” which sounds like a gender-reversed version of Liam Neeson’s “Taken” movies, with Berry playing a mother determined to find her abducted son.
Since the cancellation of her CBS sci-fi drama “Extant,” Berry has also been attached to the John Singleton drama “Tulia,” a true-life tale of an attorney (to be played by Berry) who frees a group of nearly 40 black men wrongfully accused by a white police officer of taking part in a drug ring.
