Halsey’s getting the best reviews of their career for their latest album, “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” and now the chart-topper is set to take on another medium. HBO Max acquired a “film experience” set to the music of the album, Halsey’s fourth, following a limited theatrical run in IMAX theaters, “which broke nearly $1M at the box office after selling out in 70+ theaters globally,” a press release announced.
Also titled “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” the project sees Halsey playing “the young and pregnant Queen Lila. After a shocking event, Lila unlocks a paranormal power within and discovers her ability to create life (and end it). Offering a stunning visual treat for fans, this evocative, horror-tinged fairytale explores the labyrinth of sexuality and birth,” its synopsis promises.
Halsey wrote the album-film and is among its producers. She’ll be the musical guest on “Saturday Night Live” this Saturday, October 9.
A two-time Grammy nominee, Halsey’s biggest hits include “Without Me,” “Bad at Love,” and “Graveyard.”
The album version of “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power” hit shelves August 27. The film experience will debut on HBO Max tomorrow, October 7.
