Staff reorganization among Sony’s brass has led to Hannah Minghella’s appointment as president of the studio’s TriStar division. The new position will offer Minghella “substantial latitude to craft her own slate of films,” according to Variety.
Previously the president of production at Sony’s Columbia Pictures, Minghella is associated with the films “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “22 Jump Street,” “The Equalizer” and “The Amazing Spider-Man 2.” She also helped Sony option the film rights to Sheryl Sandberg’s memoir “Lean In.”
Minghella last made the news in unfortunate circumstances, when the hack of her studio revealed that she was far underpaid compared to her male counterpart, Michael De Luca, with whom she shared a title and responsibilities.
Minghella was previously the head of Sony Animation. She is the daughter of the late director Anthony Minghella.
