Happy Friday: Abby Wambach Breaks Mia Hamm’s Goal Scoring Record

nullWhile everyone was watching the basketball game last night, another record setting event took place to much less media play.

Mia Hamm was the top goal scorer in the world — male or female — until last night.  Abby Wambach in a four goal performance in 45 minutes on the field, shattered Mia’s record.  If anyone paid attention to women’s soccer in this country anymore you would know what a magnificent feat this is.  And she did it in far less games than Hamm.

Wambach could go down as the greatest goal scorer of all time, maybe even our best soccer player, and yet we still can’t get a decent soccer league in this country.  Hell, I didn’t even know the team was playing in my area until I saw the game highlights.  Would have loved to have been there.

Check it out.
