HBO Confirms Fall Debuts for Sarah Jessica Parker’s “Divorce” and Issa Rae’s “Insecure”

Sarah Jessica Parker in “Divorce”: HBO

HBO has confirmed fall debuts for some upcoming female-centric shows. Though specific premiere dates have not been released, the powerhouse network has revealed that the following shows will hit the airwaves come autumn.

The ten-episode, half-hour comedy series “Divorce,” which stars Sarah Jessica Parker (who also serves as an executive producer on the project) will debut in the fall, with Parker returning to the network that solidified her star power via “Sex in the City.” She stars as Frances, “a woman who suddenly begins to reassess her life and her marriage, and finds that making a clean break and a fresh start is harder than she thought.” The show also stars Molly Shannon and Talia Balsam (“Mad Men”). The series was created by Sharon Horgan (“Catastrophe”), who also directed the pilot episode.

The eight-episode, half-hour comedy “Insecure” stars “Awkward Black Girl” creator and lead Issa Rae, Yvonne Orji, Jay Ellis, and Lisa Joyce. It “looks at the friendship of two black women and their uncomfortable experiences and racy tribulations.” It was created and is executive produced by Rae.

HBO will welcome another web series star this fall. The six-episode, half-hour comedy series “High Maintenance,” based on the web series of the same name, is coming to the premium cable network. The series was created by husband and wife team Ben Sinclair and Katja Blichfeld and follows “a Brooklyn pot dealer (Sinclar) who delivers to clients with neuroses as diverse as the city.” Blichfeld co-executive produces.
