HBO to Develop Comedy Series Starring Issa Rae

null

Issa Rae is teaming up with Larry Wilmore to co-write a comedy series for HBO. Rae is set to star.

The project will focus on the life of a modern African-American woman through both her extremely awkward experiences and racier situations. These are similar areas that Rae has previously explored in her hilarious and popular webseries, The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl. Rae will co-executive produce alongside Wilmore who will executive produce.

As we’ve previously reported on Rae, she’s been one to watch. She recently wrote a pilot, I Hate L.A. Dudes, for ABC and Shonda Rhimes’ Shondaland. She was on Forbes’ 30 Under 30 list and she’s writing a collection of personal essays to be published by HarperCollins.

We’ve been waiting for Rae to take over our televisions and we are happy to see that moment finally coming.
