Hilary Swank Will Star in and EP “Before She Disappeared” Series Adaptation

Swank in "Away"

Hilary Swank is bringing a page-turner to the small screen. The two-time Academy Award winner is starring in a series adaptation of Lisa Gardner’s suspense novel “Before She Disappeared” and exec producing via her Film Bandits banner, per Deadline.

Published in January, the thriller follows Frankie Elkin, “a recovering alcoholic who travels light and is obsessed with locating missing people whose cases have been dismissed, overlooked, or marginalized.”

Swank is one of fourteen women to win the Best Actress Oscar more than once. She claimed the prize for “Boys Don’t Cry” in 2000 and “Million Dollar Baby” in 2005.

“Before She Disappeared” is just Swank’s latest show in development. She also has an untitled series about a disgraced star journalist who moves to Anchorage for a job at a daily metro newspaper. Both projects hail from eOne. Her last series, space drama “Away,” launched on Netflix in 2020.

Swank’s slate also includes “Speed Girl,” a biopic of history-making race car driver Janet Guthrie. “The Hunt” and “I Am Mother” are among her more recent film credits.
