Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Starting a Prod. Company Focused on Stories By/About Women

Hillary Clinton and her daughter, Chelsea, are taking Barack and Michelle Obama’s lead. Like the former President and First Lady, the Clintons are launching their own production company. Bloomberg confirmed the mother-and-daughter duo are currently working with studios to finance a slate of film and television projects.

The production company, which is in its early stages and does not yet have a name, will spotlight stories by and about women. This move is in line with some of Hillary Clinton’s recent non-political endeavors, including her executive producing debut on women’s suffrage TV drama “The Woman’s Hour” and her cameo on the fifth season premiere of CBS’ “Madam Secretary.”

Hillary Clinton ran for president twice, represented New York State as a Senator, and was the (unprecedented) politically active First Lady during Bill Clinton’s presidency in the ’90s. A film about her 1969 gap year, Magdalena Zyzak and Zachary Cotler’s “When I’m a Moth,” premiered at the San Francisco Film Festival in April. Addison Timlin (“Californication”) stars as Hillary.

Chelsea Clinton is an author, activist, and global health advocate. She has written about feminism, endangered species, and civic engagement in children’s books “She Persisted,” “She Persisted Around the World: 13 Women Who Changed History,” “Don’t Let Them Disappear,” and “Start Now! You Can Make a Difference.” She co-penned “Governing Global Health: Who Runs the World and Why?” with Devi Lalita Sridhar.
