Hillary Clinton Biopic in Talks to Shoot Next Year

It’s hard to believe any bio of Hillary Clinton could have more flair or be more inspirational than the one the former Secretary of State wrote for her Twitter account: “Wife, mom, lawyer, women & kids advocate, FLOAR, FLOTUS, US Senator, SecState, author, dog owner, hair icon, pantsuit aficionado, glass ceiling cracker, TBD…”

Yet Hollywood is determined to try. Earlier this year, there was talk of multiple HRC projects: a Diane Lane miniseries for NBC that would trace its subject’s slow but steady rise from being First Lady to Secretary of State, a CNN documentary, and a seventies-set independent film Rodham that explored her on-again, off-again relationship with her law-school boyfriend, a brilliant hick named Bill.

NBC abandoned the Diane Lane vehicle, and CNN cancelled the feature-length documentary. But it looks like the movie about a young, ambitious Hillary Rodham disillusioned by Watergate just might get the green light.

Deadline reports that Lionsgate, the studio behind The Hunger Games, is in talks to start shooting Rodham next year. No actress is yet attached to the role.

The screenplay landed on the 2012 Black List, meaning it was a favorite among studio higher-ups. But the project’s possible political sensitivity, due to Clinton’s potential presidential run in 2016, might keep production stalled for awhile longer.
