Mere hours before Hillary Clinton became the first woman in U.S. history to secure a major party’s presidential nomination, it was revealed that the next season of Showtime’s hit series “Homeland” will feature a female president elect.
During a Q&A with “Homeland” executive producer and director Lesli Linka Glatter, star Claire Danes went into the details, Variety reports. “The upcoming season will focus on a female president-elect navigating the transitional period between Election Day and the inauguration.”
As Danes described it, the new president will be “a composite of all the different candidates,” rather than a version of Clinton or another female politician. She “challenges the norms (and) is a little scary for that reason,” Danes said. “She gets along with Carrie Mathison pretty well.”
This sixth season of “Homeland” begins in January. By that time, we may just have a female president elect ourselves.
