This is very, very good news. Advanced tickets went on sale last week for The Hunger Games which opens on March 23rd. According to Fandango, the one day total for the film was bigger than the one day total for Twilight: Eclipse which had set the record previously.
Here’s why this is good news.
- This is not a sequel.
- This is not a romance — this is an action film that stars a woman.
- The film comes out in March not in the summer or at a holiday.
Here’s what the General Manager of Fandango Rick Butler said: “Yesterday we saw the biggest first day advance ticket sales in our company’s nearly 12-year history — which is especially impressive for a March release and a non-sequel.”
I’m watching this one very closely.
