‘Hysteria’ Filmmaker Tanya Wexler to Direct Keanu Reeves in Sci-Fi Thriller

Here’s a new female filmmaker about to make it big: Tanya Wexler, who directed Maggie Gyllenhaal in the 2011 vibrator-themed period rom com Hysteria.

Wexler will have the opportunity to tackle a wholly different kind of project in her next movie, the paranoid sci-fi thriller Replicas. Keanu Reeves has just signed on to the film, in which he’ll star as a neuroscientist determined to bring his family back from the dead after a fatal car accident. In doing so, he’ll defy a law-enforcement task force and a government-controlled laboratory.

Replicas will begin shooting next spring.
