IFP’s Independent Filmmakers Lab is on the lookout for new voices in film. It’s a year-long fellowship supporting new, independent filmmakers through completion, marketing and distributing their first features. And It’s the only free program in the U.S. that helps filmmakers build an audience and stand out in a highly saturated marketplace.
Films that have participated in the lab have gone on to festivals like SXSW, Venice and Sundance and have been picked up by places such as Focus Features, HBO and BBC. Recent films that participated in the lab include Stacie Passon’s Concussion which got terrific reviews at Sundance and Dee Rees’ Pariah. Rees won the John Cassavetes Award at last year’s Independent Spirit Awards for the film.
They are looking for first-time filmmakers who have films in post-production. The deadline for Documentary is March 8 and Narrative is April 5. To apply or to find out more information visit their site.
