Ilana Glazer Has a Stand-Up Special in the Works at Amazon

Glazer in "Broad City": IMDb

Yas queen! “Broad City” star Ilana Glazer’s first stand-up special is coming to Amazon. The “Rough Night” actress announced the news via her Instagram account.

The one-hour special is being filmed tonight in Houston, Texas. The set marks the last stop on Glazer’s The Planet Is Burning tour. She’s among the special’s exec producers.

“Correct representation or better representation of women starts at representing female friendship … Women are just so often portrayed as, like, reductive characters,” Glazer has said. She emphasized that female friendships can be represented “as more than complaining about the way they look or fighting about a guy.” The Upright Citizens Brigade alumna added, “I love making stuff where you see [women] portrayed so dynamically that it makes you realize how flat portrayals of female characters have been in the past — that’s, like, the best.”

Glazer is best known for co-creating and starring in Comedy Central’s “Broad City,” which concluded its fifth and final season earlier this year. Based on Glazer and Abbi Jacobson’s web series of the same name, the stoner comedy centers on two BFFs living in New York. Her other credits include “The Night Before” and “Time Traveling Bong.” Glazer co-wrote and will co-star in upcoming A24 horror film “False Positive.”
