Ingrid Escajeda is on board to write and executive produce "On the Line," a one-hour drama in development at Fox inspired by chef Sang Yoon, best known as the chef and proprietor of L.A. gastropub Father’s Office and Lukshon restaurant. Yoon is best known for being something of a wizard with hamburgers: Esquire has named his patties the best in the nation.
TV Insider describes the script for "On the Line" as "soapy." An interesting twist — and from our POV, most welcome — is that the protagonist, a celebrity chef based on Yoon, will be a woman named Juna Kim. Juna is said to be a "man-izing, motorcycle-riding, force-of-nature who must battle the banging and brawling chaos of her restaurant staff, the disdain of her old-school Korean parents and the return of her estranged ex-husband, all while struggl[ing] to push her career beyond the famous burger that made her a star."
Formerly a supervising producer on FX’s "Justified," Escajeda currently serves as co-executive producer on Fox’s "Empire." "On the Line" is part of Escajeda’s two-year overall deal at 20th Century Fox Television Studios.
