Isabel Coixet’s debut TV series, “Foodie Love,” is set to kick off the seventh edition of Are You Series?, an international TV series fest in Belgium. The HBO Europe title tells the story of a couple who meet via an app for foodies. The eight-part, half-hour series follows the 30-somethings as they get to know each other on a series of food-centric dates.
Coixet is credited as writing and directing the series. The Spanish filmmaker’s feature credits include “Elisa y Marcela,” “The Bookshop,” and “Elegy.”
Also among the titles set to screen is Rebecca Zlotowski’s “Savages,” a drama about a politician poised to become the first Maghrebi person to be elected as President of France before his campaign is threatened by racial politics and family drama. Both seasons of Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s “Fleabag” will be streamed at the fest. The Emmy-winning dark comedy tells the story of a guinea pig cafe owner in London grieving the loss of her mother and best friend.
Are You Series? will run December 11-15. Check out the fest’s website for the complete program and more info.
