That staff at We Got Y’All must be so psyched. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Issa Rae is set to exec produce an adaptation of the breakout podcast “Nice White Parents.” HBO won the rights to the New York Times/Serial Productions podcast in “a competitive bidding war,” beating out Netflix and the Obamas’ Higher Ground Productions.

“Nice White Parents” debuted in July. The five-part podcast “focused on building a better school system and the obstacles that get in the way of doing so” — including nice liberal white parents’ habit of jettisoning diversity if it means ensuring opportunities for their own kids.

HBO’s “Nice White Parents” will be a half-hour comedy that takes “a satirical look at the conflict and comedy that arise when highly resourced white parents, who claim to have the best intentions, wield their influence over generations of Black and brown students within the New York public school system,” per the source.

Serial’s Sarah Koenig and Adam McKay are also among the EPs.

HBO is the home of several Rae project’s including “Insecure,” which she co-created and toplines. The comedy about two Black women figuring things out in Los Angeles aired its fourth season this year and will return for a fifth. Rae also exec produces and occasionally appears in HBO’s “A Black Lady Sketch Show,” which has been renewed for a second season.

“The Dolls,” a limited series based on real-life Christmas Eve riots caused by Cabbage Patch Kids; “Sinkhole,” a genre movie that interrogates the notion of female perfection; and Black TV canon doc “Seen & Heard” are among Rae’s upcoming projects. Her screen credits include “The Photograph,” “Little,” and “The Lovebirds.”
