ITVS and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting has launched a three project to air 50 documentary films — some new and some archival — that highlight women and girls leadership.

The films will air on PBS and will launch later this year with Women, War and Peace executive produced by Abby Disney and Gini Reticker who made the great Pray the Devil Back to Hell. Other films includes will be a multi-part documentary based on Half the Sky by Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.

Here’s the quote from ITVS President and CEO Sally Jo Fifer talking about the project. This is “a major public media initiative that uses independent films to focus, educate, and connect audiences in support of women and girl’s leadership and development around the world.

There will also be an educational outreach component to the project and they will partner with organizations like the Girl Scouts that focus on these issues.
