The Society of Camera Operators (SOC) is paying tribute to Jamie Lee Curtis. The “Knives Out” actress has been named as the recipient of the professional honor society’s Lifetime Achievement Awards President’s Award, and will be presented with the honor at the 2020 SOC Awards celebration, set to be held January 18 in Hollywood. Deadline confirmed the news.
“We are honored to present this award to such an iconic, talented, and truly brilliant professional as Jamie Lee Curtis,” said SOC President George Billinger III. “Her work has inspired so many of us and we are appreciative for all of her extraordinary contributions — to the business and the creative community at large.”
Comprised of camera operators, camera assistants, still photographers, directors of photography, grips, and others, SOC is dedicated to the advancement of “the art, craft, and creative contributions of the camera operator,” according to its official website.
Curtis won Golden Globes for her roles in “Anything But Love” and “True Lies.” “Halloween,” “Freaky Friday,” and “A Fish Called Wanda” are among her other credits. Her more recent credits include a 2018 reboot of “Halloween,” “New Girl,” and “Scream Queens.” You can catch Curtis in theaters now in murder mystery “Knives Out.”
“On the very clear passage of 50s to 60s, I have no time to waste,” Curtis said in 2018. “None. If you have creative ideas and you don’t bring them out into the world in some way before you go, that is a tragedy.” Her upcoming slate includes “Halloween Kills” and action pic “Spychosis.”
