Academy Award-winning actor, political activist, and environmentalist Jane Fonda can add Cecil B. DeMille Award recipient to her extensive list of accomplishments. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the “Grace and Frankie” star and Women’s Media Center co-founder “will become the 67th — and 16th female — recipient” of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s highest honor at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.

The Cecil B. DeMille Award recognizes “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment.” Previous recipients include Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, and Barbra Streisand.

“The Hollywood Foreign Press Association takes great pride in bestowing the 2021 Cecil B. DeMille Award to Jane Fonda,” said HFPA president Ali Sar. “For more than five decades, Jane’s breadth of work has been anchored in her unrelenting activism, using her platform to address some of the most important social issues of our time. Her undeniable talent has gained her the highest level of recognition, and while her professional life has taken many turns, her unwavering commitment to evoking change has remained. We are honored to celebrate her achievements at the 2021 Golden Globe Awards.”

The Golden Globes will take place February 28.

Fonda will be returning for the seventh and final season of “Grace & Frankie,” but a premiere date for the Netflix sitcom has yet to be announced. She last appeared on the big screen in 2018’s “Book Club.” Fonda is the subject of Susan Lacy’s 2018 doc “Jane Fonda in Five Acts,” a portrait of the multi-hyphenate’s work on-screen and off.
