“Quo Vadis, Aida?” continues to make a splash on the awards circuit. Jasmila Zbanic’s Bosnian war drama, which landed an Oscar nod for Best International Feature Film earlier this year, took home the top prize at Saturday night’s European Film Awards (EFAs). In addition to winning best European Film, the pic landed honors for European Director (Zbanic) and European Actress (Jasna Duricic).
Penned by Zbanic, “Quo Vadis, Aida?” tells the story of a translator working for the United Nations in the small town of Srebrenica in the days leading up to the 1995 Srebrenica massacre.
Emerald Fennell’s revenge thriller “Promising Young Woman” and Yngvild Sve Flikke’s “Ninjababy,” a comic look at an unwanted pregnancy, were also among the night’s honorees. The former won European Discovery – Prix FIPRESCI and the latter was named best European Comedy.
