Jen and Sylvia Soska Sign First-Look Deal with Prospero Pictures

The Soska Sisters: Tribeca Shortlist

Cult movie filmmakers and twins Jen and Sylvia Soska have entered into a first-look deal with Prospero Pictures (“A Dangerous Method”). The Hollywood Reporter confirms the Soskas’ Twisted Twins Productions has granted Prospero “the exclusive first right to develop and produce film and TV properties originated, written, and directed by the sisters.”

The Soskas have gained a following for writing and directing genre pics such as slasher “American Mary” and horror flick “Dead Hooker in a Trunk.” Their latest film is “Rabid,” a remake of frequent Prospero collaborator David Cronenberg’s 1977 movie. The horror story centers on a shy young woman whose life is transformed after experimental reconstructive plastic surgery. She becomes gorgeous — but her new appearance comes at a terrible cost.

“The Soska sisters have set a new standard for female-driven genre filmmaking and we are so excited to be in business with them for the long-haul,” said Martin Katz, who heads Prospero with Karen Wookey.

“Marty and Karen just viscerally understand the kind of elevated genre we’ve been making all our lives. We want to make all our movies with them,” the Soska sisters agreed.

“Rabid” is expected to make the festival rounds later this year. The Soskas’ other credits include features “See No Evil 2” and “Vendetta.” Also actresses, the sisters have appeared in their own projects and titles such as “Hellevator” and “The Blackburn Asylum.” The sisters are writing a Black Widow comic for Marvel, which published their first comic book in an issue of 2015’s “Secret Wars Journal” miniseries.
