Two-time Emmy nominee Jenni Konner has inked an overall deal with Fox 21 Television Studios, Deadline reports. The multi-year pact sees the “Girls” alumna creating, developing, producing, and overseeing series for network, cable, and streaming platforms.
Best known for exec producing, writing, directing, and serving as a showrunner on HBO’s “Girls,” Konner and series creator Lena Dunham also teamed up for “Camping,” a limited series that starred Jennifer Garner and also aired on HBO. She and Dunham are former producing partners.
“From the moment that we sat down with Jenni we wanted to work together,” said Fox 21 TVS President Bert Salke. “In addition to being smart, energetic, and a huge connector of people and ideas, Jenni has a signature taste and style that makes her a distinct and much-admired creator. We’re incredibly excited to be a part of that.”
Konner added that she felt a deep creative connection with Fox 21, and emphasized their commitment to supporting creatives. “Full stop. I’m thrilled that the next chapter in my career can be with them,” she commented.
“People always say you can’t take [criticism] personally, but that has never worked for me,” Konner has said. “I actually do take things personally and that’s okay, too. I do feel like our work is personal and sometimes we feel personally about it. I think one of the great gifts of being a woman in the world is that we take things personally — and our work is different because of it.”
Konner received two Emmy nods for exec producing “Girls.”
