Jennifer Aniston and Tig Notaro are moving into the White House — on Netflix, anyway. The pair are set to star in “First Ladies” for the streamer, Deadline reports. The comedy sees Aniston taking over the Oval Office as the first female President of the United States. Notaro plays her wife, the First Lady.
“When Beverly and Kasey Nicholson move into the White House, they’ll prove that behind every great woman… is another great woman,” the source hints.
Notaro and Stephanie Allynne are penning the script, which is based on their original pitch. The married couple previously collaborated on “One Mississippi,” Notaro’s semi-autobiographical Amazon series. Allynne wrote for the dramedy and also acted in it. The show about a radio host who returns home after her mother’s death ran for two seasons before being cancelled.
Aniston, Notaro, and Allynne are all serving as producers on “First Ladies.” No word on a director.
“New Girl” and “Fresh Off the Boat” are among Notaro’s recent acting credits. She’s signed on to join “Star Trek: Discovery” for its second season on CBS All Access, and has a new stand-up special dropping on Netflix May 22. She’s directing Ellen DeGeneres’ upcoming Netflix special.
Aniston was last seen in the 2016 ensemble comedy “Office Christmas Party.” Her upcoming projects include an untitled Apple series about morning shows co-starring Reese Witherspoon and Anne Fletcher’s “Dumplin,” a beauty pageant comedy.
