Jennifer Aniston is joining the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Meryl Streep, and Barbara Walters. The “Morning Show” star and exec producer has been named as this year’s recipient of the Sherry Lansing Leadership Award. She’ll be presented with the honor at The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment breakfast gala, set to take place December 8 in LA. THR confirmed the news.
Named in honor of Sherry Lansing, the first woman ever to run a studio, the award recognizes “trailblazers and philanthropists in entertainment and media.”
“Jennifer has excelled across television, film, and production; she is a dynamic leader within the entertainment industry and beyond. In addition to her many career accomplishments, she has also shown her generosity with her philanthropic efforts,” said Nekesa Mumbi Moody, editorial director of THR. “This year, we are thrilled to honor such an amazing woman.”
Lansing added, “I have been Jennifer’s biggest fan since I first saw and fell in love with her on ‘Friends.’ Year after year, I have watched her become an enormous force in the industry. She brings her extraordinary talent and unique vitality to every project. Even more important, her tireless support of philanthropic causes such as Stand Up to Cancer, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and countless others inspires us all to give back.”
A co-founder of Stand Up to Cancer, Lansing previously served as president of 20th Century Fox and chairman/CEO of Paramount Pictures. She heads her own nonprofit, the Sherry Lansing Foundation.
“The Morning Show” is currently in its second season on Apple TV+. “Murder Mystery” and “Dumplin'” are among Aniston’s recent feature credits. The Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner’s upcoming slate includes “Hail Mary,” Michelle MacLaren’s drama about a former Miss USA contestant who becomes a sports manager.
