Jennifer Garner can’t seem to resist the call of the outdoors. She’s signed on to topline STX Films’ theater camp comedy “Fantasy Camp” just months after the final episode of “Camping,” her HBO limited series, aired. Deadline broke the news.
Written and directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein, the pic follows Julie (Garner) who goes “to a reunion at the theater camp of her youth, Camp Footlights, where she will get the chance to challenge her fears, live out her dreams, and finally take the stage.”
“The Good Place’s” Kristen Bell was previously attached to the project. Kohn and Silverstein are rewriting the original script, which was penned by Sid Karger.
Kohn and Silverstein wrote and directed Amy Schumer-starrer “I Feel Pretty.” The long-time collaborators’ screenwriting credits include “How to Be Single,” “The Vow,” and “Never Been Kissed.”
Garner won a Golden Globe and received four Emmy nods for her breakout role on “Alias.” “Peppermint” and “Love Simon” are among her most recent film credits. Her upcoming projects include Netflix feature “Yes Day,” a comedy that sees parents agreeing to say “yes” to everything their kids request for one day, and “My Glory Was I Had Such Friends,” an Apple series about a woman who undergoes her second heart transplant with the support of her female friends.
