Jennifer Lawrence-Starrer “Causeway” Acquired by Apple TV+, Lila Neugebauer Directs

Apple has acquired “Causeway,” Lila Neugebauer’s feature directorial debut. Jennifer Lawrence toplines the A24 drama, which will launch in theaters and on Apple TV+ later this year, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Penned by Ottessa Moshfegh, Elizabeth Sanders, and Luke Goebel, “Causeway” sees Lawrence, who last appeared in “Don’t Look Up,” playing a soldier who “struggles to adjust to her life after returning home to New Orleans.” In addition to starring in the pic, Lawrence is among its producers. Neugebauer is exec producing.

Lawrence won an Oscar for “Silver Linings Playbook” and received nods for “Joy,” “American Hustle,” and “Winter’s Bone.” Her upcoming slate includes “Bad Blood,” an Apple biopic of Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes. Amanda Seyfried is up for an Emmy for her depiction of the disgraced entrepreneur in Hulu’s “The Dropout.”

Neugebauer launched her career in theater. She counts “Maid” and “The Sex Lives of College Girls” among her small screen credits.
