Jennifer Lawrence has signed on to a high-profile, timely new project. The Oscar winner will play Elizabeth Holmes, the 32-year-old founder of Theranos, a controversial medical company. Adam McKay (“The Big Short”) will direct.

The subject’s name is likely familiar to you. Holmes has made headlines since, as Deadline reports, she “claimed to have revolutionized blood testing by being able to use only a pinprick of blood, rather than traditional methods of drawing blood by injection.” But the former toast of Silicon Valley is currently under investigation over questions about the test’s accuracy and reliability. Holmes, whose net worth Forbes previously estimated to be $4.5 billion, now stands at nothing. Also, Theranos may “be banned from practicing for two years for failing to resolve significant problems at its main California lab, according to a report from federal health regulator The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.”

Lawrence recently played another innovative American businesswoman on the big-screen. The “Hunger Games” actress earned an Oscar nom for her portrayal of self-made millionaire Joy Mangano in 2015’s “Joy.”
